Chair Makeover

I found this chair at the DI for $5. I loved the design and I knew once I recovered it and re stained the arm rests it would be the cutest chair for my craft room. I found some fabric and I fell in love. I used the same fabric to recover some hideous pillows here.
The original fabric was a dark maroon leather that just didn't quite do it for me. I immediately cut the fabric off and got to it.

After all the fabric was off and safely in the garbage, where no one would ever use it again, I unscrewed the arms. Next I measured and cut the fabric to cover the seat. I pulled the fabric tight and stapled the fabric underneath.

Next I measured the backrest cusion and sewed a cover much like you would a pillow. I was surprised that is fit perfect!

Next I sanded and stained the wood arm rests. I choose a light stain so they would stand out against the dark metal of the chair

Here is how it turned out. I love having different pieces in my house that you can't find anywhere else. I'm really trying to have more objects in my house like that. It also doesn't hurt that grand total of this thing cost me less then $10. Wahoo!
