Quinceanera

I am surrounded by some of the most talented women. My one friend, Stephanie, in particular is blowing up on Pinterest. I have had the pleasure of helping her out with a couple concepts in the past like this Southern Belle shoot and a workshop she did a few months ago. Our friends have been watching her numbers grow like crazy on Pinterest, this weekend she hit 4 MILLION, so her husband threw her a Quinceanera, it seemed like the right thing to do.

This was one of the greatest parties! We came dressed in our Mexican best, there was a big bouncy castle that you had to go in to enter the abandoned building where the festivities took place. Steph's husband Kollin went all out for her big coming of age party. There were several, several, pink balloons on the ground, two pinatas, a cake, prayer candles and a strobe light. We spent the night dancing, laughing and taking pictures. Kollin even beat boxed for us and it was amazing.

The fabulous Ciara Richardson, who also took the photos for the Southern Belle shoot, was there to capture every step. Click here for all the totes adorbs photos.

Congrats Steph as of this moment you are at
4,030,668 followers on Pinterest, I have 200...

BDHP-New Foster

When me and Derrik started to foster we thought we would do one foster this fall and do another in the spring, that all changed with one email.
Derrik sent me an email about a potential foster last Tuesday. I thought I was going to have to call him and tell him I wanted to wait, but the second I began reading the new fosters profile I knew what we had to do.
Her name is Callie, she is a 3 year old black great dane. They think she was burned with acid on her back and she was stuffed into a tiny surrender box outside a shelter. They described her as timid and "not a mean bone in her body despite her background." The photos they attached brought me to tears, her sweet little face on this poor frail little body, how can people be so cruel?
We wanted to say goodbye to Patrón before we made any decisions and on Thursday, the day after he left, we knew we had to get her.
On Friday she was brought to our house and she was even skinner in person. It took more then 5 minutes to coax her out of the car, and another 5 minutes to let us even touch her. Her tail was between her legs the entire time and she flinched at any touch or loud noise. We brought Mahzy out and we saw the first sign of a wagging tail. Since that afternoon she is showing so much improvement.
She definitely has separation anxiety, but she is getting better. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met, all she wants is to be loved. I am so happy that we get to make her happy and help her realize not all people are bad. She will be a tough one to let go when the time comes.
I just have to say I am the luckiest girl to have such an amazing husband that loves these animals so much and wants to help them.

Go to Big Dogs Huge Paws to see all the pups that need a home. They have brand new puppy bull/mastiffs.

I Hate Goodbyes

Last Wednesday we had to say goodbye to our foster dog Patron. It was a hard day to say the least. I knew going into it that it would be hard to say goodbye to some little pup that I would get attached to but I didn't know it would be this hard.
I came home on Monday from work and Derrik told me that he had gotten an email earlier that said Patron had been adopted. I lost it.
On Tuesday we found out Derrik's dad was going to Colorado (where Patron's forever home was) and he would be able to take him there, but he was leaving Wednesday morning, again I lost it. I thought we would have days with him, turns out it was a matter of hours before I would loose my new best friend.
Derrik's dad came Wednesday morning, we packed Patron's things, and gave him a going away toy. He was so excited to get to ride in the car. That made it so much easier then if we would have had to force him into his crate.
Saying goodbye was harder then I ever thought, but it was such an amazing experience.

Please, if you or anyone you know is thinking about getting a dog, look into fostering or adopting. There are so many dogs out there that need your love and so many amazing organizations to help you. Big Dogs Huge Paws is a amazing organization that will do anything for their dogs. They have giants breeds that range from puppies to seniors that need love.
